Wissenschaftler der TU Wien nutzen hierzu ein Verfahren mit Gold-Gitter sowie Laserstrahlen<\/em><\/h2>\n

Ein neues Verfahren von Forschern der Technischen Universit\u00e4t Wien<\/a> (TU Wien) erkennt binnen Sekunden, ob Wasser mit Kunststoff-Nano- und Mikropartikeln verseucht ist. \u201eWir verwenden ein physikalisches Prinzip, das auch bisher schon oft in der chemischen Analytik verwendet wurde, n\u00e4mlich die Raman-Streuung\u00bb, so TU-Wien-Forscherin Sarah Skoff. Dabei werden Molek\u00fcle mit einem Laserstrahl beleuchtet. Das versetzt sie in Vibrationen. Ein Teil der Energie des Laserlichts wird somit in Vibrationsenergie umgewandelt, der Rest der Energie wird wieder in Form von Licht abgestrahlt.<\/p>\n

Hochrelevante Vibrationen<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wird die Energie dieses Lichts mit dem urspr\u00fcnglich eingestrahlten Laserlicht verglichen, l\u00e4sst sich daraus folgern, mit welcher Energie das Molek\u00fcl vibriert. Weil unterschiedliche Molek\u00fcle auf unterschiedliche Weise vibrieren, l\u00e4sst sich auf diese Weise herausfinden, worum es sich bei der Verschmutzung handelt. \u201eGew\u00f6hnliche Raman-Spektroskopie w\u00e4re f\u00fcr den Nachweis von kleinstem Nanoplastik allerdings nicht geeignet. Das w\u00e4re viel zu wenig empfindlich und w\u00fcrde viel zu lange dauern\u00bb, sagt Skoff.<\/p>\n

Das Team der TU Wien hat sich daher auf die Suche nach komplizierteren physikalischen Effekten gemacht, mit denen sich diese Technik deutlich verbessern l\u00e4sst. Die Wissenschaftler haben die Probe auf einem extrem feinen Gitter aus Gold platziert. Die Dr\u00e4hte, aus denen es hergestellt wurde, sind nur 40 Nanometer dick und 60 Nanometer voneinander entfernt. \u201eDas Metallgitter wirkt wie eine Antenne. Es verst\u00e4rkt das Laserlicht an bestimmten Stellen, sodass es dort zu einer viel intensiveren Wechselwirkung mit den gesuchten Molek\u00fclen kommt. Zudem gibt es noch eine Wechselwirkung zwischen dem Molek\u00fcl und den Elektronen im Metallgitter, die daf\u00fcr sorgt, dass das Lichtsignal der Molek\u00fcle zus\u00e4tzlich verst\u00e4rkt wird.\u00bb<\/p>\n

Gezielte Suche nach Signalen<\/strong><\/p>\n

Das Licht, das dann von den Molek\u00fclen ausgesandt wird, muss bei gew\u00f6hnlicher Raman-Spektroskopie in all seine Wellenl\u00e4ngen zerlegt werden, um daraus ablesen zu k\u00f6nnen, um welches Molek\u00fcl es sich handelt. Das Team der TU Wien hat aber gezeigt, dass es auch einfacher geht: \u201eWir wissen, was die charakteristischen Wellenl\u00e4ngen der Nanoplastik-Partikeln sind und suchen daher ganz gezielt nach Signalen bei genau diesen Wellenl\u00e4ngen\u00bb, unterstreicht Skoff und erg\u00e4nzt: \u201eWir konnten zeigen, dass sich die Messgeschwindigkeit dadurch um mehrere Gr\u00f6\u00dfenordnungen verbessern l\u00e4sst. Bisher musste man zehn Sekunden messen, bei uns dauert es blo\u00df einige Millisekunden.\u00bb Mikro- und Nanopartikel gelangen in den K\u00f6rper von Wasserbewohnern. Wenn diese zu den Nahrungsmitteln geh\u00f6ren, sind auch Menschen betroffen. Welche Folgen das f\u00fcr Mensch und Tier hat, ist noch nicht restlos gekl\u00e4rt, doch erfreulich sind sie nicht.<\/p>\n
